Canon DC100 Camcorder Review



Canon doubled its DVD line recently with two new models, the DC40, and a new entry-level, the DC100. Entry level models often have a difficult time distinguishing themselves from the pack: they must be easy enough for the novice but have the solid performance necessary to satisfy the knowledgeable yet budget-oriented. No matter which group you find yourself in, we wish to impart this one little nugget of information: the DC100 is not worth it. At only $20 more (street price), you can pick up the DC10, which has a larger imager, flash media for stills, and larger still sizes. (more)

Talking about Sony DCR-HC36



A mere $50 above the entry-level model, the Sony DCR-HC36 ($400 MSRP) will probably have to do a lot of convincing on the showroom floor in order to justify a purchase. Its only benefits over the HC26 are a remote control and the ability to capture stills at 640 x 480 to a MemoryStick. But with pictures that small, who wants them? With the significant upgrades withheld for the next model up, the HC36 is caught between a rock and a hard place. (
