Canon XL2 Audio Recording
Have you ever needed to record a voice over for a documentary but can never afford the studio space and get good quality audio? This article is about how to get good voice over audio quality in your own home without spending large amounts of money at a studio, yet achieving similar results.I'm using a Rode NTG-2 microphone for my voice overs, I plugged it into the CH.1 input in the XL2 and 1394 firewire coming out from the XL2 into the computer's firewire port. I used Sony Vegas 7.0 to capture the data. You don't need a tape to record your voice, the audio and video is automatically captured into the hard drive via firewire once you hit the capture button in Vegas. This was very useful because I didn't have to spend time capturing the tape. I can just hit record and save it onto the hard drive.As you may already know that when you pronounce the "P"s there is a pop sound in the microphone, to eliminate this, I attached a cloth in front of the microphone to block the wind that was forcefully going in. I was also wearing headphones to listen to myself.In terms of the environment in which I was recording, I closed all the doors and unplug all appliances that were making a humming noise. You can also take an extra step and build a temporary foam surrounding. VHS-C is the compact VHS format introduced in 1982[1] and used primarily for consumer-grade compact camcorders. The format is based on the same videotape as is used in VHS, and can be played back in a standard VHS VCR with an adapter. Though quite inexpensive, the format is largely obsolete even as a consumer standard and has been replaced in the marketplace by digital video formats, which offer smaller form factors and better video quality.

The magnetic tape on VHS-C cassettes is wound on one main spool and used a sort of a gear wheel which moves the tape forward. It can also be moved by hand and so is the spool. Video to DVD transfer - VHS to DVD transfer - Convert to DVD Easily!
Transferring your old home movies to DVD are a good way to incrase the life of your videos because anything that runs on tape needs a head to read. The head in the machine rubs against your tape in which over time will cause the tape to loose quality. But with DVD, the laser reads the information on the disc which does not pyshically touch the disc itself. That is why if stored properly and kept clean, DVDs are able to sustain quality over time much better than VHS tapes.In order to capture your footage into DVD, there are two choises. In the first option, you'll need a DVD recorder that can write DVDs.1) If you have 8mm tape, attach a cable (RCA S-video or mini plug) into the ouput of your camcorder. 2) Plug the cable into the input of your DVD recorder.3) connect the audio cable into the output of your camcorder and into the input in your DVD recorder.4) Select the input channel your using on your DVD recorder.5) Press play on your camcorder.6) once you see images on your screen press the record button7) depending on your tape (usually 2 hours on 8mm tape) you can choose your recording mode.8) I usually record in SPUsing a capture card1) With your 1394 installed, connect the firewire cable into the camcorder2) if your 8mm tape camcorder doesn't have a firewire you'll need a camcorder or deck that has one3) connect the video and audio into the ouput in your 8mm tape camcorder into the input of your firewire camcorder4) open the capture software in your computer (I use Adobe Premiere)5) Start capturing in your computer and press play in your 8mm tape camcorder6) The Firewire camcorder is used to transfer the information into your computer through RCA to firewire.Please leave a comment or send us any questions you can also visit our site at Azure ProductionLabels: Video to DVD transfer VHS to DVD transfer Convert to DVD transferring
